If you are aiming for a Neopian Times Trophy, here is some tips and tricks to make your entry that much better than others.

Articles - Is there something new going on in Neopia? New game, world and/or item(s)?  Something weird going on? Think you have some tips that would benefit other Neopians? You have a better chance of getting your article published if you are writing about a new interesting topic. Try to stay away from common topics that have been entered many times in the past.

There is a minimum amount of words required to be considered for publication. Shoot for around 1,000 words or more. There is no maximum limit. Please enclose your paragraphs in tags. If you don't know what that means, then don't worry about it just put it in.

Comics - Try to keep your comics around 35-40k in file size and under 470 pixels in width, and send them in a .gif or .jpg format (.bmp okay). If that doesn't work, upload them to your pet's page and send in the link. If your comic is too large it may be distorted slightly if we have to resize it.

You should also make sure that the text used in your comic is easy to read. This means using a size that is large enough to read. Also, try to use fonts like Arial, Times New Roman, Verdana etc.

You can increase your chances of getting your comic published if you can show the editor that you spent some time working on your drawing. Also, remember to keep it original.

Oh, and last but not least, try to make it funny and interesting.

Series - All series submitted should be sent with ALL of the parts at the same time in the same e-mail. If you don't do this you will not be published in the Times. We like to keep the number of parts to around 6-8, so that other writers get a chance to get their series published in The Neopian Times.

Make sure your story is interesting. Is it something you would want to read? If not, then other players probably won't find it very interesting either. TIP: It really helps to describe the setting and environment throughout your story so the reader doesn't get confused.

Shoot for around 1,500 words or more per part. There is no maximum limit. Please enclose your paragraphs in tags. If you don't know what that means, then don't worry about it.

Short Stories - Make them fun and entertaining. Have a look at some Neopedia entries, trading cards, game characters, Battledome characters, your very own pets, etc. to get some ideas. Shoot for around 1,500 words or more. There is no maximum limit, and please enclose your paragraphs in tags. If you don't know what that means, then don't worry about it.

When writing stories, series, and articles, please be sure to separate your paragraphs. It is very difficult to read a story that is one big paragraph.

Also, separate your quotes when a different character in conversation begins to speak. For example:

"Why haven't you fed me?" asked the hungry Neopet.

"Sorry about that," replied the owner. "I'll go get you some food from the Bakery right away!"

"Thanks, you're the best!" said her Neopet.

"No problem," replied the owner.

This is the same thing with paragraph tags (this just helps the editor when they start getting your story ready to be published):

"Why haven't you fed me?" asked the hungry Neopet.

"Sorry about that," replied the owner. "I'll go get you some food from the Bakery right away!" [add a p tag here]

"Thanks, you're the best!" said her Neopet. [add a p tag here]

"No problem," replied the owner.

Here are some basic things to remember:

1. Don't forget to include your user name

2. THE GUILD SPOTLIGHT IS NO LONGER

3. HINT: Always spell check your work

4. A Neopian Times trophy will appear in your user lookup IF you have been published

5. Try to be original
