Deke recommends that beginners go for the Poetry Contest or Random Contest first.

For The Neopian Times, your article must be at least 1500 words to get in AND you have to add the paragraph tags yourself as well.

Each new Beauty Contest starts on Monday night, NST. After you submit your drawing, you need to start campaigning! Ask people to vote for you on your guild board and/or go to the general boards. You should also put the link to vote in your signature.

These games are extremely easy and a must have for any Neopian.
Just play the games to get the trophies. These games are based on a tournament style:
You have to defeat one player to get a chance to face a more difficult player and so on until you reach the "boss". Along the way you can get the bronze and silver trophies but you only get the gold after defeating the "boss".

NOTE:
For Armada/ Geos/ Kacheekers, you are playing against other Neopians.
These tournaments start in the beginning of each month. You can enter these competitions by visiting the Multi-Player Page.

NEW NOTE:
You can only get a runner up medal for completing for Invasion Of Meridell.
To get gold, silver and bronze you need to be on the high score board.

Pyramids
Sakhmet Solitaire

Luck is the main element of these games and you'll need a fair amount of it to get the trophies.

Bronze---win 3 times
Silver---win 5 times
Gold-----win 2 times consecutively

Other Trophies

Punchbag Bob
To get the Punchbag Bob Trophy, all you have to do is defeat bob in the Battledome. He has no weapons whatsoever and even the weakest pet can defeat him. The catch? He has 5000hp.
NOTE: For newbies, you might want to get some cheap weapons to help speed up the victory.

Defender Of Neopia/Defenders of Neopia 2
For the Defender's Of Neopia Trophy, you similiarly have to defeat opponents in the Battledome. To find out how to get some of the opponents, visit the guild's BattleDome Opponent Page.

WAR
War happens extremely often in Neopia. Don't ask us why...it just happens. Nearly every year thus far has had a war so train your pet well in the Pirate's Academy and Training School. If you need help with weapon selection, feel free to on the msg board and we
will try our best to help you.

Illusen's Glade and Jhudora's Cloud.
At the beginning of each month, the scores reset and if you have a really fast computer you can even get the trophy in the first level-No joke!! Open two windows-one in the glade/cloud the other in the wiz and just buy as quickly as you can. Each second matters to get the trophy as each second is worth points.

Neggsweeper and Scarab21 (the SINGLE games).
At the beginning of each month, the scores reset. Here's a MAJOR tip. Play throughout the month and try to get 1200 each for the games. Then only send score DURING reset. Get it? So you don't have to rush to play during the reset and can play other games then. Hope it helps.

Other trophies that are easy to get during reset are:
Extreme Herder, Whack-A-Staff member, Advert Attack, Maths Nightmare... and tons of others.

FINAL NOTE:
All the scores that you need to get a trophy DURING reset is the minimum score to be on the board near the end of the month. This should help you aim the amount of points you need and work towards it. Remember, the only way to get good at games is to PRACTICE. Work on your skills in-between resets, it really helps.
